Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned a number of public infrastructure projects in Hadejia, Jigawa State, including the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Centre, a kidney dialysis hospital, roads, and a food storage facility.
The technology centre, established by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), is equipped with a Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) for artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and health technology research. It also includes an AI innovation and startup incubation hub, Computer-Based Test (CBT) facilities, co-working spaces, a conference hall and a 60-bed student hostel.
The First Lady also inaugurated the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hospital and Kidney Dialysis Centre, built by FutureMap Foundation in partnership with eHealth Africa. The facility is equipped with dialysis machines, modern diagnostic equipment, operating theatres, maternity services, laboratories and an oxygen supply system powered by renewable energy.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mrs. Tinubu urged young Nigerians to take advantage of the technology centre to develop digital skills and contribute to the country's economic growth through innovation.
The commissioning formed part of her first official visit to Jigawa State, during which she also launched the North-West National Food Storage Programme and inaugurated additional infrastructure projects, including the Bola Ahmed Road and Oluremi Tinubu Road.
