N785.5 Million Released for Ondo School Projects, Yet No Construction Seen — Tracka

A civic accountability organisation, Tracka, has raised concerns over the implementation of four education projects in Ondo State after discovering that despite the release of N785.5 million for the projects, there was no evidence of construction work at any of the sites visited.

According to Tracka, the projects were identified from the Ondo State 2025 Budget Implementation Report and monitored in May 2026 as part of its public expenditure tracking initiative.

The projects include the construction of classroom blocks at AUD Ibaka/Ilale Quarters in Akungba, Army Primary School Annex II in Akure and Ayedun Community Primary School, All Saints Primary School in Owobamibo I, Idanre, and Baptist Day Primary School in Ile-Oluji.

Tracka reported that N213.6 million was disbursed for the Akungba project, N203.8 million for the Akure and Ayedun projects, N165.9 million for the Idanre project, and N202.3 million for the Ile-Oluji project, bringing the total amount released to N785.5 million.

However, the organisation said physical verification visits to the project locations revealed that none of the projects had commenced. It noted that there was no evidence of contractor mobilisation, construction materials, or ongoing work at any of the sites.

The civic group expressed concern that pupils in the affected communities are yet to benefit from the classrooms and educational facilities intended to improve their learning environment despite the substantial funds reportedly released.

Tracka called on Ondo State Governor, , the Ondo State Government, and the Ondo State House of Assembly to investigate the projects and ensure accountability in the use of public funds.

The organisation also urged the (EFCC) and (ICPC) to scrutinise the disbursements and establish the status of the funds allocated for the projects.

Tracka further encouraged citizens to actively monitor state budgets and demand transparency, noting that inadequate accountability often affects critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and community development.
