A former All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing Agaie/Lapai Federal Constituency, Umar Muhammad, has called on the Niger State chapter of the party to intensify reconciliation efforts and strengthen unity among members.
Umar Muhammad made the call during an interview with Daza TV, where he urged the APC leadership in Niger State under the chairmanship of Alhaji Aminu Musa Bobi to avoid underestimating party members and to address concerns arising from the party's primary elections.
According to him, the party has lost some members since the conduct of the primaries, a development he attributed to unresolved grievances and inadequate reconciliation among stakeholders.
He stressed the need for the party leadership, elected officials and candidates who emerged from the primaries to reach out to former aspirants and their supporters in order to foster unity and build a stronger party.
The former aspirant also expressed concern over what he described as the mockery and sidelining of some party members following the primaries. However, he reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, insisting that he remains committed to the party's growth and success.
"We believe in APC. We helped build this party and we are not leaving," he said, while calling on party leaders to take proactive steps toward reconciliation and inclusiveness.
Umar Muhammad further urged the Niger State APC leadership to prioritise unity and genuine reconciliation as preparations for future elections continue.
