One Killed, One Injured in Fatal Crash Along Lapai–Lambata Road

One person was killed and another injured in a fatal road traffic crash along the Lapai–Lambata road in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to a source at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) RS 7.27 Lapai Unit Command, the crash occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in front of Muhammadu Kobo Secondary School, Lapai.
The source said the accident involved a Mercedes-Benz truck and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, adding that preliminary findings indicated wrongful overtaking as the probable cause of the crash.

The source further disclosed that four persons were involved in the incident, with one male victim confirmed dead, one injured, and two others escaping unhurt.

FRSC personnel from the Lapai Unit Command promptly responded to the scene and evacuated the injured victim to the General Hospital, Lapai, for medical attention. The body of the deceased was also deposited at the hospital's mortuary.

According to the source, the vehicles involved in the crash were subsequently handed over to the police, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
