The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL) Chapter, has given the Niger State Government and university management 14 days to implement the 2025 Federal Government/ASUU Agreement.
The decision was taken at an emergency congress held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the university auditorium in Lapai.
In a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor and signed by ASUU IBBUL Chairman, Dr. Galadima A. Bala, and Assistant Secretary, Dr. Abdullahi Mohammed, the union expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in implementing the agreement.
ASUU said it had made several efforts, including meetings and official communications, to resolve the outstanding issues but had yet to receive a satisfactory response.
The union called for full implementation of the agreement within the 14-day period, which commenced on August 10.
The union said timely implementation of the agreement would help maintain industrial harmony at the university.
The Niger State Government and IBBUL management had not responded to the ultimatum as of the time of filing this report.Category: Education
