The Niger State Government has commenced the payment of approved retirement benefits and death gratuity to eligible pensioners of the State and Local Governments.
According to a statement issued on Monday, August 10, 2026, by Bologi Ibrahim, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, the exercise covers Batch 12 of State Government gratuity, Batch 1 of State Government death gratuity and Batch 3 of Local Government gratuity.
State Government beneficiaries have begun collecting their cheques at the Niger State Pension Board Headquarters in Minna.
For Local Government beneficiaries, the payment is being administered across three zones. Beneficiaries in Zone A are collecting their cheques at the Bida Local Government Secretariat, while those in Zone B are receiving theirs at the Niger State Pension Board Headquarters in Minna.
Beneficiaries in Zone C are simultaneously collecting their cheques at the Kontagora Local Government Secretariat.
The State Government said the payment exercise is part of its efforts to meet its obligations to eligible pensioners and ensure the settlement of approved retirement benefits.
The government also stated that it remains committed to improving the welfare of pensioners and other senior citizens who served the state and local governments during their years of active service.
