The Niger State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has announced a refund of approximately N46,000 to each pilgrim from the state who participated in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, explaining that the refund followed the reconciliation of the Basic Travelling Allowance (BTA) provided to pilgrims.
According to him, a review of exchange rates and financial transactions carried out during the Hajj operations revealed a surplus of about N46,000 per pilgrim, which was equivalent to 123 Saudi Riyals (SR123) at the exchange rate applied during the exercise.
Sheikh Awwal Aliyu said arrangements had been concluded to ensure the prompt disbursement of the refunds to all eligible pilgrims.
He noted that the move reflects the Board’s commitment to transparency, accountability and prudent financial management in the administration of Hajj affairs.
The Board advised beneficiaries to contact their respective Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers (APWOs) or designated officials for details on the refund process and collection arrangements.
The Executive Secretary also commended pilgrims from the state for their cooperation, discipline and conduct throughout the pilgrimage, reaffirming the Board’s commitment to improving service delivery in future Hajj operations.
The refund is expected to benefit all Niger State pilgrims who participated in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
