Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, working in collaboration with the Yobe State Hunters Group, have arrested five suspected kidnappers during an intelligence-led operation in Jegalari village, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
According to a statement issued by the military on Friday, troops of the 233 Battalion, based at the Damaturu military cantonment, carried out the raid following credible intelligence on the activities of the suspected criminals in the area.
The military said the operation led to the recovery of three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made firearm, assorted ammunition, and four mobile phones believed to be linked to the suspects' alleged criminal activities.
The statement added that the suspects and the recovered items remain in military custody while investigations continue to determine their involvement in kidnapping and other terrorist-related activities.
Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at disrupting the activities of terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal groups across the North-East.
The military also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious individuals or movements to the nearest security agencies, stressing that timely intelligence from the public remains essential to improving security and maintaining peace in the region.
